Soft Luxe Flavors: Sundays Restaurant

My son and I had a staycation last week, during the long weekend here. Before going home, the family had brunch at Sundays Cafe and Restaurant.

It's a huge restaurant. I wasn't able to explore the other parts as we were seated near the door because my sister is in crutches.

The whole restaurant is bright and cheerful. The lines are clean and modern.

The staff are attentive. The place was packed even early in the morning, so the service and food were a little slow.

Kuya Don, our driver for that week, ordered cappuccino.  A small one. But the cup was huge! Good thing he didn't order the medium one! He couldn't even finish this.

Iced tea for mom. I forgot to ask her if it's any good, but I think it is as she finished the whole thing.

Chopsuey. Kuya Don loved this so much. Well, he loves veggies. I can't eat a lot of them because I get rashes on my face and gas. I tasted a little. It's a tad too sweet for me. I like the mix of veggies though. Oh, and it's the first time I tasted chopsuey with sitaw (long beans)! I'd have to say...I didn't like it. I prefer Baguio beans.

Now let's take a moment to appreciate this pancit canton. This was the winner that day, hands down. The flavor was spot on. It can stand on its own without calamansi. As a matter of fact, I didn't like it when I squeezed some calamansi on the portion on my plate. The vegetables were crisp. The noodles were al dente. (Don't you just hate soggy or soft noodles?) Everyone agreed that this was delicious. We would order it again and again.

This is kare-kare with lechon kawali. I thought there was only a small portion of lechon kawali, but it fed all six of us! I like the sauce, it's not overly sweet. The bagoong, however, had an aftertaste I can't quite put my finger on. I think it's the type of sugar they used. I don't think it's muscovado as that's what I use. Maybe coco sugar or molasses. Will I order this again? No. It was good, but not memorable.

I forgot what fried rice this is. My sister loves fried rice so we always have this when we're all together. I only ate two tablespoons of this. It was alright.

Sweet and sour fish fillet. I like that the sauce is light and the right mix of sweet and sour. I like that the fish is not swimming in the sauce. What I didn't like was the fish fillet itself. It was gooey inside. The breading is too thick that it either didn't cook all the way through or it got soggy fast. No, I will not order this again.

Knickerbocker. It's a mix of fruits, gelatin, and milk topped with strawberry ice cream.

I tasted a little. I thought those little bits were apples, but it turns out, they're bananas. I immediately spit them out. I'm allergic and also hate bananas. 😆 I vowed to make my own version at home. My son and sister liked it though.

Our bill came to Php2300 ($40) and that's for 6 people! SIX! We ate at Rosario the previous day and our bill was over 4k!

Will we go back to Sundays? Definitely!
