240 Baons + 365 Meals

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.

Or are you too tired when you get home? This post was inspired by my fabulous friend, Kitten. I guess it’s also about time that I write about ‘my secret’ since my officemates are also asking how I am able to bring homemade baon and cook wonderful dinners when my job is 8-5 and I blog and I have all these extras in my life plus the fact that I get sick every now and then. I’ll just number the points for you because I really don’t know where to start. I’ll just write the tips as they come. So here it is then. Get ready to be changed! Plan a menu. In my case, I plan for 5 days. That’s breakfast, lunch and dinner. Write it down on a notebook or on a white board. You don’t have to follow the menu per se like Monday-Chicken, Tuesday-Fish. As long as you know what you’re going to cook and eat then that’s okay. Plan a budget. Tres, tres important! This is very important. Ginisang Sayote, Repolyo at Tuna (Sauteed Chayote, Cabbage and Tuna)- SOY-FREE, GLUTEN-FREE, DAIRY-FREE

I've been spending a big chunk of my day studying and learning more about health, the mind and body and how my family and I can achieve perfect health. We are eating much, much healthier now than a few months ago. You may know that I suddenly developed a soy allergy so our house is soy-free. My son has also developed several allergies (well, actually, both him and I) so I've been very careful with our meals. We mostly eat at home and we only have a few restaurants that we go to every now and then. This is a mostly allergy-friendly dish with the exception of the fish sauce. You can just use salt but I insist that you use a good broth as that will give this dish the depth in flavor that it needs. This dish is cheap and fast and can feed a lot of hungry mouths. These were all leftover ingredients in our fridge that I put together in one meal. I had one organic chayote, half a small organic cabbage and one tuna steak.
