We went on a staycation in Binondo a few weeks back so that we can go shopping comfortably at nearby 168 Mall and Lucky Chinatown. After 168, we discovered a KKV branch at Lucky Chinatown Mall! I got a few things (photo at the bottom of this post), but one of the standouts is this spaghetti pack from Chef Nic.
Chef Nic is a popular chef in China. He even has his own travelogue show.
I was very interested in his spaghetti kits. I said I will try one first and see if I'll love it. I got the Spaghetti with Creamed Mushroom and Bacon Sauce.
The Packaging
Can I just say that I'm impressed with the packaging? It fits my soft luxe aesthetic so well! I can just imagine having a line of these pasta kits in my pantry!
Inside, you'll see the instructions. It's basically just boil the noodles, drain, add the sauce and you have dinner!
What's Included
The spaghetti is only 110 grams, just enough for 1 or 2 persons, depending on their appetite. I was gonna serve 3, and my son alone eats for 3 people! So, I had to add more pasta.
The pack comes with everything you need - from the pasta, to the sauce, down to the seasonings! It has salt, pepper, parsley, cheese, and spice oil! Who does that? Chef Nic, you're a genius! This is very helpful for students, bachelors, single people, etc. basically anyone who doesn't want to stock ingredients in their pantry. It's especially useful for busy moms like me, too! All I needed to do was open each packet! I love this idea!
The Verdict
The sauce was nice and thick. It was soooo flavorful! I was afraid that the bacon would be tiny bacon bits, but look at that! It's a bite-size piece! The mushrooms were also in their original size! And there were plenty! Not just a few measly pieces.
The first time I tasted it, the bacon flavor hit me. The sauce was perfectly seasoned. Normally, these packed sauces are either too bland or too salty. Chef Nic's was perfect! And it's hard to please my palate, mind you.
It's that kind of flavor where you keep saying, just one more bite. It's that good. I kept trying to savor the different flavors in the sauce, trying to figure out what else he put in there. 😁
I imagine a bachelor inviting his lady to his place for dinner and he cooks it. He whips out a pack of Chef Nic's pasta kit and voila, chef-level dinner served for milady. It really is the perfect way to impress a lady! Just plate it nicely, have some warm bread and your choice of drinks. And of course, good conversation!

Since I added more pasta, I had to add more cream and mushrooms, too. I just added a little Italian salt to add more flavor, but that's it. Even with the extra cream, the original sauce's flavors shined through.
I added the parsley and cheese from the packets. This is the finished product.
