My son and I are not huge fans of sweets aside from chocolate. Well, we do like sweet and sour candies. More sour than sweet.
This chiffon roll is a little like that. It's not overly sweet and has the right amount of lemon notes. Have you tried lemon cake with a lemon flavor that's so in-your-face? This isn't like that at all. The sweet white filling is the perfect complement to balance out the lemony taste.
The chiffon itself is nice and soft, but we put ours in the fridge as my son and I love cold cakes and pastries, so it was a little chewy when we ate it. It's still delicious though.
I have to say that one slice is enough. I think two would be umay as we say it in Filipino. It's when your tastebuds get tired of the same flavor and texture and you crave for something else.
I don't think this will pair nicely with coffee. Maybe sweet tea is better. I don't drink coffee that's why I can't imagine the combination. Yes, I think sweet tea is better.
This comes in different flavors - chocolate, lemon, mocha, ube. I think there's pandan, too. Stay tuned for the chocolate roll review soon! We just have to finish this roll first. π
