There's a Lydia's Lechon a few doors down from our hotel and I've been meaning to try it ever since I discovered it on our first stay in that hotel.
One morning, my son and I were thinking about what to eat for brunch and I asked if he wanted to try some Lydia's. He said yes.
Lydia's Lechon
Lydia's Lechon is a leader in the lechon industry in the Philippines. They've been around for many, many years. They're actually the first lechon company that I heard of when I was a child. Back then, if you wanted lechon, you order from Lydia's.
And if memory serves me correct, they always catered or sponsored the meals of the staff of Eat Bulaga, a popular noontime show back then. They always mentioned it during the program.
After ordering the pancit, we went to the nearby 7-11 to see what else we can buy. We got some doughnuts from Mr. Donut. The strawberry filled donut was alright, but I still like Dunkin' Donuts better. I didn't like the chocolate. It was gritty.
Was the pancit delicious? Well, see for yourself:
The pancit was very flavorful. We added some calamansi, but I feel like the pancit doesn't really need it. I didn't like the fish or squid balls though. They were too fishy. I told my son not to eat those as well.
The noodles weren't overcooked and the vegetables were nice and crunchy. The lechon on top was perfect that day, too.
I told my mom and sister about this and they tried it on another day and they found it delicious as well.
After my son's tummy troubles, he caught a bug. Some kid sneezed on us outside the Petron bathrooms during our trip back from Baguio. He didn't even cover his nose and mouth. I wish parents would teach their kids safety precautions when they're sick, so they don't spread their viruses.
Anyway, since we loved the lemonade so much, we decided to get one for each of us.
Coach E Says:
I prefer to combat viruses with natural remedies to aid the immune system to heal the body. This lemonade is packed with vitamin C. And we've discovered that it's quite potent as only about 3 of these (one per day) and my son was completely healed from his cough and colds. But of course, he also took Manuka honey. Healing is a combination of things.
I love this thermal bag from Lola Nena's! I have a few of them already. They're reusable. Just wash or wipe the inside before reusing.
Kudos, Lola Nena's for thinking about the quality and safety of your drinks when people order them for takeout instead of pinching pennies or being stingy with the packaging. For this alone, we will be loyal customers. I like supporting businesses that really think about their customers and not just concerned about making a profit.
But of course, the lemonade isn't bad either. Plus they have one or two more products that we like. 😉

’Til our next shared bite,
Stay cozy. Stay curious. Stay nourished.
LET'S EAT.
With grace, warmth, and a full heart,
Lady E
