As you may know, we took a weekend trip to Baguio in early December. I'd like to share with you some of our meals.
Quoted Cafe Breakfast Buffet
The one above was from the breakfast buffet of Quoted Cafe. We used to like their buffets, but the taste and variety of food has gotten bad. On that day, my son and I were only able to get the sausages and the daing na bangus.
The daing na bangus (milkfish) was delicious! It was crunchy on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside. The flavor was spot on. However, the second batch was too sour. Good thing we were able to get from the first batch.
The sausages are a staple in that buffet. Sometimes they're spicy. I was glad they weren't that time because my son was having some tummy troubles.
Nanyang
From Nanyang SM Baguio, we ordered Hainanese Fried Chicken via Grab.Just look at that spread! I thought they didn't include dark soya so I ordered extras. The photo didn't include the dark soya and the description also didn't say.
Anyway, I'm glad I did because I needed the extra sauce. 😁
I ordered this mainly for the ginger. My son was recovering from tummy troubles and I was happy that he was able to keep this food down. He also finished his food!
Coach E says:
Ginger is good for tummy troubles, so put them in soups or make a tea out of it.
As for the taste? Hainanese roasted chicken is our favorite, but this fried version was also delicious! It's just like eating regular chicken rice, but fried. The soup was a bit too oily for me, and there was too much spring onions, but it was good and warm. The rice is your typical rice from this set.
The bokchoy was a good addition as it cuts the oiliness of the chicken.
I bet this would be even better if we eat this at the restaurant. My son and I are looking forward to it.
Vizco's
This was pizza from Vizco's SM Baguio. My family had it wrapped for takout because my son and I had an incident at SM Baguio that caused us to miss lunch.
I didn't want to eat at Vizco's because the last time we ate there, all the dishes we got were sweet! But my sister was craving their pizza, so that's where we (or they) ate.
These pizzas were okay though. They were still good even when we ate them at the hotel.
Sis said the nachos were bad. She even complained to different staff members, but they didn't say anything.
My son and I shared this cake at the hotel. The mangoes were soooo sour! I had to throw half of the slice away. I also had a tummy ache that night because of this.
Max's Restaurant
On our way back to Manila, I asked the family if we could eat at Max's so that my son can have some soup. I was worried that he'd get diarrhea in the middle of the trip.
We ordered a family meal.
That was the shrimp from the pancit. I couldn't cut it! It wasn't raw, but it looked raw. Kuya Fil (our driver) said that it could be fake! Well, I've seen fake fish and fake eggs, so yeah, this could be fake shrimp!
That's the questionable shrimp
The camote (sweet potato) fries are good in this branch. They're crunchy outside, tender inside. Some branches have soggy sweet potato fries. It's also the first time we were given sugar for the fries.
Chicken Velveteen
I specifically asked for this soup in the group meal. I asked if it had milk. The supervisor said yes. She answered because the staff didn't know. I asked if they can remove the milk as my son was having tummy troubles. The staff went to the kitchen to ask and they said yes.
Later on, the same lady informed me that actually, it really doesn't have any milk at all. 🙄
This soup is light, but lacked flavor. The mix of vegetables and meat was great, though.
Max's chicken is perfect. This is their signature dish. They became famous because of this chicken.
Those are some of the meals we tried during our trip.
How is the New Year treating everyone? I have so many plans for this blog and I am excited! I hope you stick around for those.

’Til our next shared bite,
Stay cozy. Stay curious. Stay nourished.
LET'S EAT.
