A Different Kind of Crunch: Discovering Peruvian Potato Chips

 

There’s a certain kind of quiet that settles in after a long day.

The kind that comes after writing, admin work, and laundry… when everything that needed to be done is finally done. And all that’s left is to sit down, breathe, and reach for something small, something satisfying.

This afternoon, it was a bowl of Peruvian potato chips.

At first bite, I already knew these were different.

Not the thin, fragile kind of crunch that disappears too quickly. Not the hard, aggressive kind that feels like it might punish your teeth. This was something in between… a deep, satisfying crunch that feels intentional. The kind that makes you pause for just a second before reaching for the next piece.

And then there’s the flavor.

Peruvian potatoes really are something else. There’s a boldness to them, a fuller, earthier taste that lingers just enough to make you notice. No weird aftertaste. No artificial finish. Just potato, elevated.

These are sea salt flavored, and yes… they lean a little on the salty side.

But somehow, tonight, it works.

Maybe it’s the summer heat. Maybe it’s the way your body craves a little more salt after a long, exhausting day. Either way, instead of fighting it, I found myself appreciating it. Letting it settle, letting it balance everything out.

Paired with a glass of Cibo’s Te Freddo, cold and refreshing, it becomes something more than just a snack. It becomes a moment.

A slow one.

Because even if I can’t stop reaching into the bowl… I’m still savoring every bite.

Meanwhile, my son has already gone through his second bowl, which tells you everything you need to know.

This isn’t just a snack that disappears in the background. It’s the kind you remember. The kind you go back for.

And for me?

This might just be my new favorite potato chips.
