Baguio Country Club Cheese Bread

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.

Homemade Childhood Sweets

What’s your favorite homemade childhood sweet? I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I like eating homemade desserts and sweets. My grandmother would make polvoron, yema, pastillas and other desserts that the whole family can enjoy. Christmases and birthdays are favorite affairs to whip up these desserts. Fast forward to the future where everything is fast paced, we no longer have the luxury of making these sweets at home instead, we just buy them from commercial bake shops. Dress up Leftovers with Chicken Alphabet Soup

Soup always warms my soul and comforts my sick body, not to mention make it heal faster too. I didn’t have this yesterday but on one of my sick days a few weeks back. We had some leftover balsamic beef strips and I made them into fried rice: What’s nice about this dish is it’s quick, healthy and delicious. You just need cold rice, beef strips from a previous dish and chopped carrots. Season with anything you like. But because I was sick, I needed soup so I made this: Alphabet soup is my favorite! I loved it when I was a kid and I still love it now. That’s why when I saw the alphabet pasta at Landmark, I quickly grabbed it and put it in my cart without checking the price. Don’t worry. It’s less than a hundred pesos. This soup is too rich. I made a simpler version of it last Saturday.
