This post is for all my man friends out there who rely on this blog to feed them (haha!) or give them ideas on what to eat aside from the regular junk food that they buy dyan sa tabi tabi. Filipinos are very creative when it comes to cooking food that will feed every member of the family. Even some well-off families serve simple gisa or sauteed dishes. Baguio Country Club Cheese Bread

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.

Stir Fried Vegetables with Quail Eggs in Oyster Sauce

I originally wanted to cook a simple vegetable dish with cabbage and white sauce but when I checked, the cabbage wasn't fresh anymore so I threw that away and scratched the recipe in my head. While throwing the cabbage in the bin, I remembered that I had some French beans so I thought of using those. I also decided to change the white sauce to dark and used oyster sauce and soy sauce.
