Baguio Country Club Cheese Bread

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.

More Pan de Manila Goodies

Yesterday I forgot to buy breakfast food. I asked MB if he knew of any Pan de Manila stores nearby. He said they have one near his office but we were not sure if it’s open since it was a Sunday. Anyway, it was worth the trip as it would only take a few minutes. Good thing we did because from afar, I could see the lighted ‘OPEN’ sign. I have no idea why I feel so happy when I visit a new Pan de Manila shop. Probably because I didn’t have access to it when it first opened years ago. The only Pan de Manila closest to us is the one in EDSA and it was such a hassle to go there. Anyway, here’s what we had for breakfast today: MB had Pan de Ube. Sorry, I can’t give you a review about this. I don’t like ube (purple yam) so much when it’s matched with bread. Mine was Leche Flan Tart. It looks like a regular egg pie on the outside but you would taste the difference once you bite into it. It’s smooth and creamy. It’s very different from an egg pie. Creamy Quail Eggs and Vegetables

This dish is much like sipo eggs. I think sipo eggs is creamier with the added use of cream of mushroom. I just used regular all purpose cream. I enjoyed this dish when I was a child. I would order it every time in the food court. Their version does not include cream. I thought cream would make it better. If you want to try this dish, here's what you need: boiled quail eggs, peeled frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn) shrimps garlic onions all purpose cream water salt and pepper butter oil Let's do this! In a pan, put some butter and oil. Wait for the butter to melt. Add the garlic and onions. When the onions are cooked, add the mixed vegetables. Wait for them to cook. Add the peeled shrimps and eggs. Let the shrimps turn pink. Pour about 1/4 c water. Boil and then simmer. Pour one Nestle APC. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with rice and enjoy!
