Fridge Finds – Noodle Hug Edition

When the groceries are gone but the magic stays.

I'm challenging myself to come up with dishes every Saturday using what's left in the fridge. This is a two-fold mission: Avoid buying takeout and maximize groceries.

Let’s be real — the fridge is gasping. Grocery run? Scheduled. Pantry? Holding on. But hunger waits for no woman, and I don’t do food drama when I’m hangry. 😆

So today’s challenge was simple:

What can I make using whatever I have?

I did a morning reconaissance and found:

🥕  shredded carrots

🥒  a zucchini from our recent Baguio trip, doing her best

🧊 frozen chicken stock I saved from boiling chicken breast (look at past me being brilliant)

🍥 frozen fish balls

🥚 2 eggs

🍜 Ottogi wheat noodles (yes, we’re that kind of household)

I sauteed some garlic and onions in a little oil, boiled the stock, dropped in the veggies and fish balls, cooked the noodles straight into the broth, then topped it all off with soft scrambled eggs.

And just like that — I made comfort in a bowl.

No fancy garnishes. No drama. Just warmth.

Just love.

Just… a noodle hug.

Because even when the fridge is naghihingalo (dying), this home will always have heart (and a good soup base). 💁‍♀️

Save this for your next “wala na tayong pagkain” (we have no more food) moment. Trust me. You’re never out of options. 😉
