Lady E Tastes: Aling Ilah Bagnet Chicharon

Last month, my family and I went on another road trip. We went to Marilao then Pampanga then Tarlac then back to Bulacan. We went to Rosalie's to buy a few things. This pack of chicharon is one of the things I bought.

Rosalie's had an array of chicharon to choose from:

I was drawn to this particular chicharon, Aling Ilah's, for two reasons: Bagnet and they're bite-sized. Have you ever tried biting into a big chunk of chicharon? It's painful! I carefully chose the pack with the right sized pieces and put that in my basket. 

The Taste

This chicharon is not salty, unlike most chicharon brands out there. It's actually too bland for me. You'd need vinegar to boost the flavor, but I guess that's what they took into account when they seasoned it. They know that people will usually dip the chicharon in vinegar and if they do, the taste might be overwhelming. But I don't usually eat chicharon with vinegar so this was underwhelming for me. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it from time to time. 

I'd have to say that I was impressed with this. The chicharon lasted a long time without getting sale. I didnt transfer it to another container. One time, I even found the package not sealed properly, but the chicharon were still crunchy!

The bite sized pieces? Genius. Not getting stale and chewy for a long time? Perfect. Had they added more seasoning, this would have been 5 stars. 

Will I buy this again? Hmm.. Maybe not. I still like this chicharon better.
