Lady E Tastes: Baguio Burnham Park Christmas Fair Eats

Day 1 or Night 1, I should say, in Baguio, started with visiting the Christmas Fair at Burham Park.

Solibao

I wanted to try the Lechon Over Garlic Rice from Solibao, but my son's heart was set on Raquel's Forest House's Sinigang na Salmon for dinner.

I opted for this instead:

Vegetable okoy

This vegetable okoy was only Php45 ($0.76). It was served piping hot with a small bag of vinegar. I poked a hole in that vinegar bag.

The okoy was good on its own. I'm just used to eating it with vinegar to cut down on the greasiness to avoid umay (taste buds getting sick of the same flavor). This is deep fried. Okoy is basically a fritter. It can be made with different ingredients such as shrimps and other seafood.

Not sure what veggies are in this, but there's definitely sweet potatoes and carrots. It was too dark to see. It was delicious! It had the right amount of seasoning layered with the natural sweetness of the vegetables. And the crunch was spot on!

Valley Bread Cafe

This is actually the Colosseum, and not the leaning tower of Pisa. 😆

From here, I got the mango strawberry pizza:

I know it sounds weird, but hear me out. It was surprisingly good! The sweet, salty, sour combo definitely satisfied my tastebuds. That's my kinda jam!

The mangoes were sweet, the strawberries were a little tart, and those cubed cream cheese pieces weren't sharp at all. (I hate sharp cheese.) They delivered the right kind of texture and saltiness and paired with the melted cheese, rounded out the flavors, balancing them perfectly.

The crust was a bit too toasted, even burnt in some parts, but I didn't mind. I like toasted, crunchy crusts. The texture and taste actually remind me of my homemade pizza dough. 😊

My son liked it, too, We had this for dessert after his salmon sinigang. I was sooo full that night!

If they add more strawberries and had the staff didn't lie about serving time (he said 5 minutes, but actually took 20), this would have been perfect, too!
