Lydia's Lechon Round 2

 

One night at the hotel, my son and I decided to go to Lydia's Lechon, just a few doors down from our hotel,  to try their lechon. I wanted my son to try this iconic lechon.

While waiting, I took some photos of the packed food on offer. 

These are marketed as pasalubong (homecoming gifts)

I wonder if their chicharon is any good. Has anyone tried it?

This is the lechon we ordered. I think this is 1/4 kilo. I was so disappointed because the pork was soooo gamey. That's all I could taste. Even though I smothered it in sauce, that terrible flavor was still there. The only good thing was the skin. 

We didn't finish it and I gave the leftovers to the guard downstairs. I'm very sensitive to gamey tastes, but some people actually like it.

Good thing Da sent us some of her chicken afritada, otherwise, I would've needed to order another dish! 

Will we order the lechon again? I don't know. I'm pretty traumatized. That wasn't cheap either. But the lechon on the pancit wasn't gamey. We'll see.

There are other dishes at Lydia's that I want to try when we go back.
