Lady E Tries: Little Quiapo Part 4

This is the final post in this series. I want to thank you all for sticking with me throughout. I'm still having problems with Blogger. I cannot upload images directly from my browser. I have to open the Blogger app, upload photos, save it, then go back to my browser tab to write. It's soooo troublesome. I cannot write on the app because a lot of functions and features are not available. This is the reason why I made a series so one post won't have too many photos. It's hard to edit.

So, back to our Little Quiapo food adventure. We went back there during another round of staycation. I was craving some calamares that day and thought that the pinakbet would be a good partner.

I got to taste the pinakbet again and I'd have to say that I didn't taste the bagoong much. I also felt that this dish was lacking in taste. Max's pinakbet is quite better. My son eats veggies, but he didn't like this either.

That's strike 2. I'm not going to order this again.

As for the calamares? Yawn. That's all I can say. The combination of pinakbet and calamares and rice was soooo dry. The dip was the saving grace of this plate of calamares.

And while we're on the subject of calamares, you know where I found the best-tasting calamares? Cindy's, circa 1980's at SM Makati. Hands-down, the best calamares I've ever tasted. The texture and taste were just spot on every. single. time. Add to that the sweet memories and nostalgia of my childhood, having lunch with my beloved grandfather. And the dishes that went with it the best? Cindy's beef with broccoli and Sizzling Plate's sinigang the hipon, also at the old SM Makati.

So, will we go back to Little Quiapo? I'm pretty sure we will as they serve a lot of tasty food.

But as for the tinola? Well, my son and I found one that could rival Little Quiapo's. I'll tell you all about that tomorrow.

’Til our next shared bite,
Stay cozy. Stay curious. Stay nourished.
LET'S EAT.

With grace, warmth, and a full heart,

Lady E
