Baguio Country Club Cheese Bread

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.

Homemade Childhood Sweets

What’s your favorite homemade childhood sweet? I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I like eating homemade desserts and sweets. My grandmother would make polvoron, yema, pastillas and other desserts that the whole family can enjoy. Christmases and birthdays are favorite affairs to whip up these desserts. Fast forward to the future where everything is fast paced, we no longer have the luxury of making these sweets at home instead, we just buy them from commercial bake shops. But if you’re like me, nothing beats homemade desserts. It just doesn’t taste the same. The Emporium stays true to that ideal. Rockstar Breakfast

This should have been but the baby arugulas were so bitter! Next time, I’ll use lighter greens Nevertheless, it was delicious! These are apple and cheese tortillas. This is how I made them: Place some cheese squares on a tortilla. Heat on very low fire until the cheese melts. I used Australian Colby. It’s very light and not salty. I love how gooey and sticky and bubbly it is when melting. Fantastic! Once the cheese is melted, top with arugula or any greens of your choice and thin apple slices. Fold and toast both sides. Oooohhh, the crunchy/chewy tortilla plus the warm cheese and the sweetness of the apples was simply unforgettable. MB picked out the arugula while I sucked it up and ate everything because I know it’s good for me. I will definitely do this again! Breakfast is one of my poorest areas but this was a definite slamdunk!
