I've been spending a big chunk of my day studying and learning more about health, the mind and body and how my family and I can achieve perfect health. We are eating much, much healthier now than a few months ago. You may know that I suddenly developed a soy allergy so our house is soy-free. My son has also developed several allergies (well, actually, both him and I) so I've been very careful with our meals. We mostly eat at home and we only have a few restaurants that we go to every now and then. This is a mostly allergy-friendly dish with the exception of the fish sauce. You can just use salt but I insist that you use a good broth as that will give this dish the depth in flavor that it needs. This dish is cheap and fast and can feed a lot of hungry mouths. Winter Love and Honey Freckle Apples, Are They Worth the Price?

My son and I went to S&R yesterday. Our mission was to buy some meat but when we passed by the fruit chiller, we saw several new fruits. We took a look at the price, boy were they expensive! But, my son and I are foodies so we couldn't help but get a few. We tasted the Winter Love Apple last night. According to some quick research, while I was in S&R, these are Japanese apples called Fuyo Koi, romantically dubbed as Winter Love Apples. They are from Iwate Prefecture. They have a higher sugar content than other apple varieties and a surprise ingredient - honey! I don't know how they added honey in the cultivation process but it does have a honey aftertaste. Baguio Country Club Cheese Bread

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.
