Hi, everyone! We just got back here in Manila from a weekend trip to Baguio. And of course, I have to share with you my food adventures, starting with our journey to Baguio.
We left at 6 am and had breakfast on the road. We opted for a Starbucks drive-through. Everyone got ham and cheese toasties.
Can we take a moment to appreciate those browned cheese bits? Yum!
The bread crust was a bit too hard because it's toasted, so I was just careful to bite into it. I just bit little by little. But the center was nice and soft, filled with warm, gooey cheese.. Oh, just thinking about it makes me want to order another!
It wasn't salty and the cheese wasn't sharp. I hate it when cheese hurts my mouth and tongue.
The ham and cheese ratio was perfect. I also love the addition of parsley. In my book, cheese and parsley go together.
Arriving in Baguio
We got there before 1 pm and headed straight to our hotel as my sister had questions. After hotel business, we went to Central Park Restaurant.
This is what we ordered:
Siomai
No need for explanations on this one. I already wrote about it in my first post about Central Park. If you want the short version, this is good, order it! ๐
Spinach soup
I couldn't taste this because I'm allergic to spinach, but mom, my sister, and our driver, Kuya Fil were able to finish this whole bowl! Aside from tofu, it had chunks of cream dory, too. My sister said that it used to be scallops. Kuya Fil said that it was delicious and had seconds.
Spareribs in Tausi Sauce
When I first looked at this dish, I immediately exclaimed, binagoongan! Haha! It really reminded me of binagoongan! I was expecting a dark sauce because of the tausi. I wasn't ready for the flavor explosion in the broth.
Kuya Fil and I liked the broth a lot and spoooned it over our rice.
The pork cuts didn't look like spareribs. Kuya Fil commented that they looked like adobo-cut pork. ๐ He said that they really aren't spareribs.
Some parts were tough, some weren't. Too bad it was a little spicy. I wanted to finish the remaining pork! I can't eat a lot of spicy food. It raises my histamines and I get a reaction.
I'm already thinking of ways to recreate this dish at home. I really enjoyed this dish.
Oh, as for the tausi? They're there. You just have to find the tiny beans hidden between the pork. ๐คฃ I think we found 3...technically 1 because the others were just halves.
Yang Chow Fried Rice
Another dish that doesn't need explaining. Just read my first review. Link above.
Fried shrimps in sweet and sour sauce (photo below)
I was only able to eat 1 shrimp because the first one I got wasn't even shrimp! It was squid! I really don't know what's going on with this dish. Is it shrimp? Is it squid? ๐คฃ It was good though. We asked for the sauce to be separated, so the "shrimps" wouldn't get soggy.
Central Park Restaurant has become my favorite. When I think of Baguio, the first place I want to eat in when we get there is Central Park. I've had two wonderful memories of this place, sharing good food with family and friends. I'd like to keep adding more. They have an expansive menu, so I'm sure we'll be able to taste new dishes next time.

’Til our next shared bite,
Stay cozy. Stay curious. Stay nourished.
LET'S EAT.
With grace, warmth, and a full heart,
