Baguio Country Club Cheese Bread

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.

Who says dinner dates at home can’t be fun?

It’s my favorite hero’s day today. Aside from remembering what he has done for our country, we also welcome the midweek rest. Today was a typical holiday for us – woke up late, had a late breakfast, went to the store to check on things, bought some stuff for the house, bought some food then went home. Watched TV, had a nap then watched TV again. So, I decided to shake things up a little. I asked MB to go to Mang Inasal and get takeout for dinner then go to 7-11 to get some Slurpees as MB has never had a Slurpee in his entire life! Can you believe that?? I know, right? So we had a nice evening stroll. It’s great when your house is walking distance to Mang Inasal, McDo, Jollibee, Shakey’s, Chowking, KFC, Shopwise, Goldilocks, 7-11, Mini Stop. Right Kitten? Unfortunately, all my orders were not available. So we settled for dark meat which I don’t like but a girl’s got to eat. We went to the nearest 7-11 to buy the Slurpees but the machine was out of order so we had to walk all the way t

Winter Love and Honey Freckle Apples, Are They Worth the Price?

My son and I went to S&R yesterday. Our mission was to buy some meat but when we passed by the fruit chiller, we saw several new fruits. We took a look at the price, boy were they expensive! But, my son and I are foodies so we couldn't help but get a few. We tasted the Winter Love Apple last night. According to some quick research, while I was in S&R, these are Japanese apples called Fuyo Koi, romantically dubbed as Winter Love Apples. They are from Iwate Prefecture. They have a higher sugar content than other apple varieties and a surprise ingredient - honey! I don't know how they added honey in the cultivation process but it does have a honey aftertaste. The apples are sweet and the texture is good. They're easy to peel, too! Sorry about that pic, it was too late when I realized I needed to take a photo. This morning, we tried the Honey Freckles.
