Are you a fan of this classic Filipino breakfast?
It’s that time once again in my life when I need to make some changes. This time around, it’s my blog that needs to be altered. My husband and I talked about it and we decided to make a new one that encompasses everything I do and love. So, I would like to invite all of you to check out my Recipe Box.

You know me, I always go around my favorite supermarket to find interesting things. Here’s what I got today:

When you buy 2 packs of milk, you get a free Magnolia bottle reminiscent of the old glass Magnolia bottles.

I actually already have several of these bottles as I’ve been buying them like crazy. They remind me so much of my childhood. As for the milk, I make sure that my husband drinks one glass daily before he goes to work.

Next is this goody box from Knorr. I’m not a huge fan of Knorr. I prefer Maggi but this was too good to pass up. If you buy 3 boxes of chicken cubes and several packs of their Sinigang Mix, you get a free Lock & Lock food keeper. Yes, it’s Lock & Lock and not just some cheap food keeper.

Finally this salad keeper from Nestle Cream. Buy 2 cans and you get this salad keeper free. There are 4 colours available – pink, blue, green, purple. They only have blue and pink at Landmark. The box can be re-used to hold your favorite Nestle recipes (as printed on the box) but I think the carton is too flimsy to be useful so I threw it away.

I’m very happy with my grocery finds today. I’m sure there will be more as the holidays approach.

Local chocolate wafers are too sweet for my taste. This one, I think, lacks sweetness. I think there’s just too much wafer and not enough chocolate. This is a pasalubong from mom, by the way.
I can only eat 3 of these at a time because I hit a food wall after that. My taste buds just “sleep” after the third one. I still have half a pack and we will finish it any way.

This was another pasalubong from Macau. I really liked this snack. I ate it for breakfast and merienda. It’s like biting into a crispy croissant. You get several layers of goodness. The top is sugary and filled with almond slivers. I have to say that I like the chocolate better. Both were not too sweet. They’re just perfect. Although I liked this snack, I wouldn’t eat it again. It was just not memorable enough for me.

I won’t even bother.. I took one bite and I felt like gagging. I really don’t like the taste of imported mango and pineapples combined. I’m sorry if you like this but this really isn’t for me. My husband and even mom do not like it as well. This was from Macau too.

Mom got this for me during her trip to Macau. She bought this because of the Hello Kitty toys inside.

There are 3 packs of biscuits with 4 pieces each.

This is how the biscuit looks like. There is a chocolate center.

I think this is made in Spain that’s why the chocolate is not very sweet. It also has some citrus notes. I’ve already finished all the biscuits and they are delicious. If you want to see the Hello Kitty figures, hop on over to my lifestyle blog.

I saw the poster for the new Goldilocks Paella one day when we passed by Alphaland mall. I vowed to try it as it looks soo good in the photo.

I was really disappointed when I tried it. The flavors just didn’t go together. I feel that this was a dish cooked half-heartedly. The chicken barbecue was also not a good fit. This dish was dry and lacked flavor. I didn’t like the fish as it was too “fishy” for my taste. What a disappointment…
We tried Bubba Gump for the first time ever as a treat to cousin C for her birthday.

mine is at the center (loved it!)
onion strings which lacked crunch
sampler plate
I only liked the tempura in this dish
in my opinion, this needs a more balanced flavor. I can only taste the tomato sauce and the peppers
They have family-friendly sections. The d├ęcor is nice too. My son especially loved looking at the colorful vintage pieces. He also wanted to take home the stuffed shrimp and octopus but my husband and I agreed that he was too young for stuffed animals and they were too expensive and not baby-friendly. We bought him other toys later that day. Our bill was a little less than Php2,000. I won’t go back to this place as I really didn’t like the food.

no matter how many times I try laksa, I just can’t learn to like it
look at that gorgeous dragon fruit
I’m not a huge dessert girl but I want to try new things every now and then. I think I only liked the chocolate cupcake in this bunch

my companion brought me some canapes

This was my usual plate – noodles, nasi, chicken curry, dried anchovies, cucumbers and some cold cuts.

my companion’s plate
She orders tea everyday
While I get my fill of fresh OJ daily
watermelon slices and dates
I feasted on fruits (especially watermelons) each day
There’s this burger place in the new Glorietta that’s called Big City. We’ve been wanting to try it out forever but were turned off with the prices. One day, we were already starving and it was the nearest place to go to. We ordered the following:

Chicken wings for me

Burger steak for cousin C

Burger for MB
Nothing tasted good… not even the fries. We didn’t like it all but we finished our plates (except for MB) nevertheless. The wings were still a bit bloody but I didn’t bother returning them as the food already took too long to arrive. The service is bad as well. When we followed up our order, the server made a face. The prices are high, the food is mediocre and the service was bad. Do I have a reason to go back? NONE at all.

After that disappointment, we went to get a bucket of fries at Potato Corner and a DQ treat. Here’s my favorite DQ treat:

3 generations of women in my family went to Hong Kong and Macau a few weeks back. Mom bought us some goodies for pasalubong.

She also gave us a few trinkets which I will post in my lifestyle blog.

I used the chili garlic sauce pack from Lee Kum Kee to make this quick dinner. I just fried the shrimps, drained them and drizzled the sauce over the shrimps on high heat.

My husband said to try the sauce with beef next time. I really like this!

I bought this at Landmark Supermarket. The taste needs a lot of getting used to. My husband didn’t like this. Cousin C doesn’t like it as well but she ate a few pieces. I tried to finish the whole tub by myself but failed after several days. It was just too salty for me.

It’s a bit spicy and sweet and very salty. I think the sweetness made the cheese saltier. I won’t repurchase this as it’s bad for my health. Too much salt…

Tried it, loved it. Will look for more recipes to use this!

I found this bag of potato chips at Landmark supermarket. I prefer imported snacks most of the time as they are less salty and I can digest them better. This is a great example of that. I like this better than regular potato chips. They look exactly like that, blue. I also feel that this is more filling (and healthier) than regular ones. That’s just my opinion though.

Mom got me more of this when she went to Hong Kong. But she got the smaller sizes.

I’m the only one who likes this as everyone else thinks that it’s weird that I’m eating blue potato chips. = )

We made a quick stop in Singapore before going home. I was so famished as I haven’t eaten in hours. Naturally, I ordered chicken rice as it’s my favorite Singaporean dish. I also had some dumplings and a bottle of Orangina. Yum!

I’m just baffled why there’s mashed potatoes on my plate..

By the way, I finished everything you see here.
