Baguio Country Club Cheese Bread

My sister went to Baguio, Ifugao, etc. last week. She brought home a bunch of goodies including this: It’s supposed to be a cheese bread but it’s filled with walnuts and dried fruit. It’s like a fruit cake inside. I didn’t like this. I like sweet and savory but this was just terrible. I like dried fruits as my grandma makes a mean fruitcake and she uses the same ingredients. I just didn’t appreciate this. It really tasted weird for me. The filling just does not go with the bread.

Want To Cook But Pressed For Time?

Or are you too tired when you get home? This post was inspired by my fabulous friend, Kitten. I guess it’s also about time that I write about ‘my secret’ since my officemates are also asking how I am able to bring homemade baon and cook wonderful dinners when my job is 8-5 and I blog and I have all these extras in my life plus the fact that I get sick every now and then. I’ll just number the points for you because I really don’t know where to start. I’ll just write the tips as they come. So here it is then. Get ready to be changed! Plan a menu. In my case, I plan for 5 days. That’s breakfast, lunch and dinner. Write it down on a notebook or on a white board. You don’t have to follow the menu per se like Monday-Chicken, Tuesday-Fish. As long as you know what you’re going to cook and eat then that’s okay. Plan a budget. Tres, tres important! This is very important. In my case, I allot Php1500-Php2000 per week depending on the menu but I try to stick to the budget as much as I ca

TGIF Lunch Spread

I just want to share with you this lunch spread I made last Friday. I was washing the dishes when I heard our neighbor talking to her "suking" fishmonger. She was buying tilapia. I like tilapia but was scared that I'd end up with the "magilik" kind. My last 3 buys ended up in disappointment. Since he was a suki, I decided to risk it and asked my husband to buy 5 pieces. I would give the two to my mom and sister. Thank God they tasted good! Here's what I made for lunch: Fried tilapia, sauteed squash with minced pork, and chili shrimps. We also had a simple dipping sauce and some lanzones which I also bought from a vendor passing by. The pandemic has made me a convert. I usually don't trust vendors but fortunately, I found some really good ones. The shrimps are also from the same vendor. They were large river shrimps and tasted really good in this dish. I did realize though, after cooking, that I didn't devein them and so we just scraped the digestive
