Lady E Eats

I made this again. After years of not making this and then suddenly making it again in July, I somehow can’t stop making it. 😆 The creamy quail eggs, vegetables and shrimp that somehow keep finding their way back to my table. I wrote about this dish recently , and about how it reminds me of something my mom used to cook when I was younger. There is a little bit of childhood tucked into it for me: vegetables, shrimp, something warm poured over rice. This time, though, it gave me a different kind of memory. There was some left in the refrigerator. One night, I was tired. It was late, and normally this is exactly the sort of moment when reaching for my phone and ordering something sounds very appealing. But strangely, I wasn’t craving fast food. I was craving this . So instead of scrolling through delivery menus, I went to the kitchen and reheated the leftovers. A bowl of rice. Plenty of shrimp. Quail eggs. Vegetables. That thick, savory sauce soaking into everything. This was the ...

Soft Luxe Flavors: Tagaytay - Rosario, Pamanang Panlasa Restaurant Review

We visited Rosario Pamanang Panlasa (formerly Josephine's) in Tagaytay. I wrote about the whole trip in my beauty, fashion, and lifestyle blog , if you'd like to read that. I also showed pictures of the restaurant, the view, and more. In this post, we will talk solely about the food. Before we sat down, we had a bit of a problem. My sister was using crutches as she has an incomplete fracture of the knee and the hostess who accompanied her suggested a table that would make her go down a set of stairs. 🤦‍♀️ Really? Fortunately, our server (whose name escapes me at the moment), was a star! He anticipated all of our needs and promptly catered to our requests. Here's what we ordered: Lumpiang Shanghai I only tasted one lumpiang Shanghai as I'm not a huge fan, so I'd rather not go deep into this. It was alright, but not for me. Sinigang na Salmon Belly sa Miso This was our favorite and the star of the table, hands down. There was a lot of salmon belly, as you c...

Years Later, Still Making This

There are some dishes that we keep coming back to over the years. But, I feel that’s the same for all families. Don’t you gravitate towards the same things in the grocery store? This dish is something that I don’t often cook, but when it makes an appearance, it’s always warm and comforting. I’ve written about creamy quail eggs and vegetables years ago. More than a decade ago, in fact. Back then, I made a variation of sipo eggs. For this dish, I used cream of mushroom soup instead of cream to make proper sipo eggs. There are many ways of making sipo eggs, but all of them (as far as I know) have a thick cream base. For the recipe, check out the original post and swap cream of mushroom soup instead of cream. I served some crunchy chicken skin with this dish because I needed the texture variation. Mom isn’t a good cook. That’s why my sister and I do the cooking. 😁 But I distinctly remember a mixed vegetable dish with...
